Second Post - Fireworks

Fireworks or Firecrackers?
You know, when I was a child, we had firecrackers. Not fireworks - nobody ever went to see the fireworks, everybody went to see the firecrackers. I grew up calling them firecrackers. Every year at the beginning of November, we had Bonfire night, or cracker night. It was about Guy Fawkes and him trying to blow up Parliament back in the day. Four hundred years plus, some time in the 1600's it was. I know, I know, I know, I can look it up and have the correct date. OH very well.,...wait a minute then .... it was the 5th of November 1605 that poor old Guy did his stuff but unfortunately, he got caught. Pity. I wonder how England would look today had he succeeded. Would have been the House of Stuart and no German orange influences. Hanover and all that. Hmm..

Anyway getting back to the night in question, every year local councils made a big mountain out of firewood and stuff and in the evening after tea, everybody went there and lit firecrackers. I remember mum and dad in their clothes like all the other adults, and me in my pyjamas and dressing gown. All the children went along in their jamas and dressing gowns. It was easier that way you see - when it was over and you went back home, you didn't have to spend time getting the children undressed, you could be pout straight to bed. They were good times, lots of fun. Sadly we don't celebrate Guy Fawkes night here anymore and I don't know why.

Anyway, here's a goodly collection of animated fire-crackers!
